Nate the Great

In the LaFrance household, Nate the Great is a hero.  My boys spend their days (when not flying around the house like Superman, mind you) searching for the next urgent case to solve.  It's always exciting to bring home a new Nate the Great adventure from the library.  We love to curl up on the couch and read together and even my 3yo is glued to the plot.  This pancake loving Nate the Great (NEVER referred to as just plain old Nate =), is always courteous to his mother and never fails to leave a note informing her of where he is off to.  Accompanied by his sidekick, his dog Sludge, Nate the Great takes his job as a detective very seriously, as should any problem solving professional.  He is occasionally joined on the field by his cousin, Olivia Sharp, who has her own exciting series of adventure books!

The Author, Marjorie Weinman Sharmat, was born in Portland, Maine in 1928 and is the author of more than 130 children's books.  I love how she charmingly incorporates familiar Maine places and things into her Nate the Great stories.  I also greatly appreciate Marjorie's writing style.  The plot and dialog are simple to follow and engaging for young readers.
